VoiceGuides privacy

VoiceGuides works locally. The developer operates no service that collects, receives, or sells your app data.

data the app uses

The app processes Markdown and plain-text files you choose through Android’s folder picker or open/share actions. Listening position, settings, notes, explorations, completion reviews, offline copies, and parsed narration caches stay on your device.

VoiceGuides uses the text-to-speech engine installed on your device. That separate software has its own behaviour and privacy terms. VoiceGuides requests neither internet nor microphone permission.

file access

Android grants access only to a location you choose. VoiceGuides scans supported files recursively and treats source folders as read-only. You can revoke access in Android settings or uninstall the app. A file explicitly opened or shared may be copied into private app storage for listening.

sharing and backups

Sharing occurs only after you choose a copy, share, backup, or export action. Android then gives the prepared text, Markdown, or JSON backup to the destination you select, which applies its own privacy policy. Backups can contain progress, notes, explorations, and related app data; you choose where to save and delete them.

retention and deletion

Data remains on the device until you delete content, clear app storage, or uninstall, subject to Android backup settings. Removing a source folder does not necessarily remove offline copies, notes, or exported backups. Delete shared files separately at their destination.

collection, analytics, and advertising

The developer receives no app content or usage data. VoiceGuides has no developer-operated account, analytics, advertising, tracking, or remote server and does not sell or share personal data for advertising.

security and limitations

Local storage cannot protect an unlocked or compromised device. Android, the selected TTS engine, keyboard, backup provider, and destination apps are separate software and may process data independently.

children

VoiceGuides is a general-purpose reading tool, not directed to children. Because there is no collection service, the app does not knowingly collect children’s personal information.

changes and contact

Material changes will appear here with a new effective date. Questions may be sent to valjaer@gmail.com. Because the app transmits nothing to the developer, there is normally no server-side account or content for the developer to delete.
